2 Day Coconut Detox diet review, does it work?

What is it?

2 day coconut detox diet bottleThe 2 Day Coconut Detox diet plan claims to help flush your body of toxins, reduce bloating and help you achieve a better body, within just two days.

The official website also states that the plan will help improve skin condition, energy levels and digestion. This sounds a little too good to be true, so let’s take a closer look at how it works.

The 2 day Coconut Detox diet formula is a drink, taken three times a day as a meal replacement that contains coconut water, Medium Chain Triglycerides or MCT’s (found in the flesh of mature coconuts), Acai and Goji Berry.

Coconut Water is known as being the next best thing to water for drinking; it is high in certain nutrients, such as calcium and potassium, and is completely fat free, see this resource – http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/truth-about-coconut-water.

The coconuts MCT’s are thought to improve thermogenesis within the body and help boost fat burning, although this is yet to be scientifically proven with this particular formula.

Is the 2 day Coconut Detox effective?

coconutsWhile its ingredients are well known and natural, there is no reason to believe that drinking the Coconut Detox drink itself is going to make a dramatic difference in a persons weight in just two days.

The 2 Day Coconut Detox diet has not been clinically trialled, so the company’s claims may be a little unfounded.

While Acai Berry and Goji Berry are common in diet pills due to their high levels of antioxidants and their own fat burning abilities, it is well known that they only work at a certain dosage. Since the website doesn’t offer a detailed list of ingredients, there is no way to know if these correct dosages are offered per serving of the drink.

The plan is quite strict, limiting snacks between meals to fresh fruit or steamed vegetables, which isn’t a bad thing. It also advises 30 minutes of gentle exercise a day (promoting yoga and pilates as the best course of action), although again, we find it hard to believe that very much can be achieved in such a short space of time.

The 2 Day Coconut Detox diet plan’s maintenance programme (a follow up to the detox in order to maintain a healthier, happier you) may be a little more conceivable, but if you eliminate the Coconut drink from the plan itself you are left with a pretty standard set of rules for any diet.

What do customers say?

Looking at the customer testimonials on the 2 Day Coconut Detox diet official website, it’s reasonable to have high hopes for this product; they are, of course, all positive, but remember they are picked specifically for the brands promotion, so we had a look elsewhere…

Unfortunately, the independent reviews for the 2 Day Coconut Detox diet are particularly average. The overwhelming majority of people have labelled the plan as “Ok”, with most struggling to complete the two full days without food, feeling lethargic, light headed and suffering from headaches.

Of course, this is to be expected when your body suddenly experiences such a drop in calories, but the weight-loss experienced is not really anything to shout about; we imagine that if you stuck to just water and two portions of fruit or veg a day anyway you could lose about or around the same (which is definitely NOT recommended by the way!).

pros2The 2 Day Coconut Detox diet formula is entirely natural, or at least appears to be. With no ingredients list, we are making a fairly massive assumption, but the ingredients we do know of are definitely not going to cause any side effects. The lack of food over the course of two days, on the other hand, will almost certainly make you feel tired and unmotivated.

cons2A two day plan is never going to promote the kind of weight-loss that most people are looking for. It may a reasonable starting point, if you can survive the side effects of not eating for two days, but in general we can’t see how the Coconut Detox drink itself plays any major part in that.

cons2It is certainly not cheap; at $39.99 (AUD) for a bottle (enough to last the two day course) it is a very expensive way to detox, with very little evidence that it has any more benefit than a regular (free of charge) detox plan.

Is it worth buying?

2-day-coconut-detox bottleWhile detoxing, when done correctly, is a good way to cleanse your body and can have a pretty positive impact if you suffer from bloating, weight-loss is something that should always be managed sensibly over time.

There is no miracle, two day fix that is going to make you drop a dress size and any health expert worth their salt will tell you that dramatic weight-loss in such a short space of time is unhealthy, even if the formula was to work.

Sadly, the 2 Day Coconut Detox diet will probably have more of an impact on your wallet than your waistline.

Chemist Warehouse has this product on special for $19.95 frequently.
Better yet buy yourself some multivitamins and coconut water if you want similar effects without the insane price the manufacturer has thrown on this product.

I bought it, doesn’t taste very nice.

They ask you to fast for 2 days during the detoxing.

At the end, some people do lose a bit weight, but that could be solely attributable to the fasting itself.

I’d rather do traditional fasting and drink my $4/L coconut water. LOL!

  4. Fred Sassmannshausen says:

I gave it a try for the full 2 days, I thought I drank enough water but clearly not.

I have had a massive bad reaction to this product resulting in 5 days lost of work and severe bowel pain. Results from ultrasound show no abnormality in the bowel bladder or kidneys.

On the 5th day the pain subsided with the assistance of medication to reduce acidity. On the 7th day abnormal bowel activity, pain in lower colon and also the need to be very wary of food types as am now hyper sensitive.

I am not saying that perhaps there was already a bowel problem such as irritable bowel syndrome however the whole experience has left me pretty well gutted ( excuse the pun )

Tastes amazing, but yet to see results

    No pain, no gain?
